Mercedes launches new Sprinter in MENA region
ABU DHABI: The new Sprinter by Mercedes has been officially launched in the region, available for both commercial and business fleets. The new Sprinter is quite versatile and can suit various customer needs.
This new model comes with an array of upgrades, and base trim will now get Crosswind Assist and electronic stability program as standard. Moving up the range you get high-resolution screens, with the latest MBUX infotainment system (with touchpad controller) and high-quality materials being used in the cabin. One of the highlights on the inside is the stowage compartment concept. You get to choose from various open or closed compartments and a lockable section within the roof liner in the cockpit area. This provides great customisability for various situations as per customer preference.
Another area where Mercedes spent a considerable amount of effort is in the air conditioning system, which is crucial in this region. With separate vents in the front and rear, the system has a combined output of 18 kW ensuring that you get car-like cooling performance even in such a big van.
Powering the new Sprinter is a choice of 2 engines. The first is a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder unit with either 114/163 hp and the second is a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder unit which makes 190 hp and 440 Nm of torque. For the first time, Mercedes is offering the 7G-Tronic Plus transmission in select areas with power being delivered to the rear wheels. This ensures better handling and smaller turning circles. In some markets, all-wheel drive is also being offered for better traction and higher ride height.
Thomas Greipel, General Manager of Mercedes-Benz Vans Middle East and North Africa, said, “We have celebrated huge success with this vehicle, having sold more than 3.4 million units of the Sprinter in over 130 markets across the globe.” With new features and the Mercedes brand to back it, the new Sprinter should continue the success it has had for so long.
