Mercedes-AMG takes the wrap off F1-inspired PureSpeed Speedster
ABU DHABI: Mercedes-AMG has revealed the first vehicle of its "Mythos" lineup, called the PureSpeed. It is inspired by the brand's Formula 1 heritage and vintage race cars.

The highlight of PureSpeed’s design is a Halo that is inspired by Formula One and it replaces the traditional windscreen.This two-seater open-top roadster seems to be based on the SL convertible as evident in its taillight and headlight design. It has a lower grille with a white-painted AMG logo and streamlined shark nose front bumper and exudes an aura of elegance.
While Benz race cars were white years ago, the factory chose to replicate the red Italian-brand cars' appearance to prompt spectators to get out of their way as they approached. The front fenders of PureSpeed will display the number 10, paying homage to the Mercedes that won the 1924 Targa Florio.
The PureSpeed features a Halo that is inspired by Formula One and for enhanced safety it will replace the traditional windscreen. A bracket will be connected to the body of the vehicle for next-level protection similar to F1 standards.
Mercedes has not disclosed PureSpeed’s specific powertrain details but it's expected to inherit the SL63’s twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine. It could either inherit the 805-horsepower E Performance iteration or the 577-horsepower base variant. Regardless of its configuration, it will deliver unparalleled exhilaration, making it the pinnacle of roadster performance.
Acquiring the PureSpeed may be a considerable challenge, as Mercedes will produce only 250 units, reserved exclusively for dedicated Mercedes-Benz collectors and enthusiasts. While pricing specifics have not been disclosed, prospective buyers are expected to be prepared to pay a premium for the privilege of owning this vehicle. Deliveries will start next year.
