Meet Toyota’s latest electric innovations - FT-Se and FT-3e concepts

ABU DHABI: At the Japan Mobility Show 2023, Toyota unveiled two of its electric concept vehicles: the FT-Se sports car and the FT-3e SUV. These EVs may have unconventional names, but they are unique in terms of their innovative features and design. They signify Toyota's shift into the EV segment and demonstrate the commitment of the automaker to redefining technology and design boundaries in a forward-thinking way.

The Toyota FT-Se has a sporty stance with dramatic details like a substantial wing at the back and daytime running lights in the front. The FT-Se will make you feel like you're driving the Supra and GR86 despite relying completely on electric power. There are flush door mirrors and small handles on the side. 

The FT-Se's interior is inspired by a race car. The minimalist dashboard and yoke-style steering wheel give it the feel of a well-designed race car. The modern layout and digital interfaces won't overwhelm you.  

The Toyota FT-3e represents Toyota's design language evolution. This electric crossover has been designed to offer personalized services and unique driving experiences using cutting-edge technology. The front doors are equipped with exterior digital screens that provide details about interior air quality, battery charge, and onboard temperature. 

The FT-3e also has eliminated rear door handles by opting for touch-based door operation. Its size is similar to the Toyota bZ4X, and its 22-inch wheels make it an impressive concept. Inside, it comes with multiple screens for different functions, like the infotainment, instrument cluster, side view cameras, and rearview cameras. 

Toyota's CEO, Koji Sato, said that their future electric vehicles will be eco-friendly and offer an enjoyable driving experience. The company is redefining car-making principles to offer value and performance unique to electric vehicles, like spacious interiors and a low centre of gravity.
