Honda unveils production-ready E at 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show
ABU DHABI: Honda’s electric cars have been one of the most anticipated cars ever since they made their appearance as the Urban EV prototype at the 2018 Frankfurt motor show. There were plenty of rumors running around over the last two years, but now the Japanese carmaker has finally revealed the production-ready Honda E.
The prototype was also shown at the current year’s Geneva motor show in the month of March and the near-production car was showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Now, Honda has published the first official pictures of the production-spec E. This is said to be a vital step regarding Honda’s dedication to producing 100 percent electrified vehicles by 2025. According to sources, the E will make its formal public launch at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show next week.
The production-spec Honda E is expected to come equipped with two electric motors, which are capable of churning out a maximum power of 136 hp and 154 hp respectively and both of them will generate a peak torque of 315 Nm. It will be capable enough to hit 100 kmph from stationary in around 8 seconds. This 35.5kWh battery will aid in providing a total range of up to 220 km from just a single charge. Users will not have to utilize their entire day to charge this battery as it will come with fast charge support that will charge the battery up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.
Talking about the design, it is not that attractive if compared to the modern Urban EV concept. The design was already shown in the Geneva motor show, and the only difference that one can make out from the final production car is that the grille badge is not illuminated. Also, the ‘Honda Design’ badge is not present on the side skirt in the production-spec car.
