Honda, Ford, and BMW partner to create ChargeScape, an EV grid services company
ABU DHABI: BMW Group, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., and Ford Motor Company announced that they have agreed to create ChargeScape, LLC, an EV grid services company. All three automakers will have an equal share in the company, and their main objective is to create a unified platform connecting automakers, electric utilities, and interested EV customers.

Chargescape's operations are expected to start in early 2024.ChargeScape has been created to benefit both the electric utility sector and electric vehicle users in Canada and the United States. The main intent of the company is to unlock the unique capabilities of EVs while offering EV owners a chance to earn financial benefits through a range of energy-sharing and managed charging services that were not available with traditional gasoline-powered vehicles.

Chargescape aims to accelerate the expansion of smart charging and vehicle-to-everything solutions all over the country while increasing customer benefits, supporting the stability of the grid, and helping maximize renewable energy usage," BMW of North America Vice President for Engineering Thomas Ruemenapp stated.
"We are counting on this platform to create new value for our customers by connecting EVs to electric utilities, strengthening grid resources and carbon emissions," American Honda Motor Corporation Incorporated Vice President of Sustainability and Business Development Jay Joseph added. "With automakers accelerating toward the electrified future, we must find solutions like Chargescape to enable all stakeholders to work together for the good of our customers, society, and our industry by enabling greater use of renewable energy for and from mobility."
Chargescape's operations will start in early 2024.
