Abu Dhabi: After revealing the cabin images of the upcoming A-Class, the Bavarian automaker has released a new teaser image of the A-Class. The updated hatchback will make its global debut next month and the teaser highlights the headlights that resemble with the recently launched CLS. According to reports, the front profile has been updated to give the A-Class an aggressive and bold look.
The base of the upcoming A-Class is the new MFA-2 platform which uses a higher concentration of aluminum and steel over the outgoing MFA platform. The hatchback has grown dimensionally and features a low-set grille with horizontal louvers. This is well complemented by sharp headlights that meet the front wings to give a shredded appearance. The new dimensions read 4,419 mm in length, 1796 mm in width and 1433 mm in height, which is unchanged. The new A-Class also retains the wheelbase of the outgoing version which is 2,729 mm.
Under the hood configuration include a 1.4-litre engine that will be offered in three states of tune: 110 hp, 136 hp, and 163 hp. The other option will be a 2.0-litre engine with availability in two tunes - 191 hp and 244 hp. This new engine also inspires the new A 35 4MATIC model of the AMG lineup that will work in conjunction with a 48-volt electric motor to deliver a total power output of 306 hp and 409 Nm of torque.
The center of attention for the upcoming A-Class is its cabin, which is inspired by the new S-Class and E-Class. This means you will get more luxury elements that according to the manufacturer will help in scaling the sales of its compact hatchback in an effective manner. The new dashboard is divided into two horizontal sections by a ambient lighting. The upper section highlights the twin-screen widescreen cockpit while the lower section features turbine like air vents and a control panel.
The steering wheel and seats are borrowed from S-Class that comes with an optional seat heating and climate control for the first time. Let’s see what Mercedes has to offer with its new A-Class.
