German automaker Borgward opens its first showroom in the UAE

ABU DHABI: Borgward is a German auto brand that specialises in manufacturing high-end, luxurious cars that are no less in performance front. Currently operating is only a few countries, the brand recently decided to expand its operations across the Middle East and ASEAN region.

Giving its decision a concrete picture, Borgward earlier today officially announced its UAE invasion. The brand along with Union Motors (a local distributor) opened its first showroom in Dubai. At the inauguration ceremony were present Borgward top officials along with its two stunning cars - the BX5 and the BX7. These are the same beauties that were showcased by Borgward at the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show.

In order to provide a seamless customer experience, Borgward also opened a Middle East Part Center. It will enable them to bring the delivery period to 2-5 days. Thus, helping the German car brand to enhance its regional presence in all spheres. Specially built to address the local demand, this warehouse is spread over an area of 16,000 sqm and is located at Jebel Ali Free Zone.

At the new intervention Tom Anliker, Senior Vice President, Borgward Group AG said, “Borgward entry to the GCC was prompted by robust customer demand for compact and mid-size SUVs in the region. The opening of the central warehouse in Dubai JAFZA reflects our commitment to delivering excellent service to our customers and underscores our continued efforts to become a trusted service partner.”

The Borgward BX5 is a striking crossover that is available in two engine choices - a 149 PS generating 1.4-litre turbo mill along with a beefier 1.8-liter turbo powerhouse that churns out 189 PS of power. With Volkswagen Tiguan like design language, this car is stuffed with tech features like - cruise control, 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto, and WiFi connectivity.

The BX7, on the other hand, is the largest model in the company’s lineup and is developed in conjunction with Foton. Available in three seating layouts - 5, 6, and 7, the cabin comes tuned with 12.3-inch infotainment system with voice recognition feature, 4G and WiFi connectivity, and 10-way control knob. Powering it is a 2.0-litre turbo engine that produced a maximum power of 223 PS.
