Genesis reveals official photographs of its upcoming GV80
Genesis has recently released official photographs for its first-ever crossover luxury SUV GV80. The car is said to carry a similar powertrain as the automaker's G80 sedan. The model is all set to launch in South Korea this month.
From the exterior, the GV80 looks almost like the concept car, which was revealed at the NY Auto Show. The vehicle represents the traditional shape of an SUV and retains the concept's upswept window line and large D-pillar. However, the production GV80’s crest-shaped grille has lost the concept’s two-tiered, fanged appearance and the present design represents the company's signature Genesis grille, similar to the one on the redesigned G90. The production GV80 sports marker lights on its fenders that continue the design of the headlights, just like the new G90.
Although no official specifications have been revealed on the powertrain of the car, the 2021 Genesis GV80 is set to carry similar underpinnings as the new Genesis G80 sedan. The vehicle will be available in both rear or all-wheel-drive option. The engine can also be assumed to be adapted from the G80, which features a 3.8-litre V6 as along with a twin-turbo 3.3-litre V6 trim. The upcoming vehicle is also said to feature a 5.0-litre V8 option, to reach a wider audience.
The spy photos of the car couldn't provide a clear idea of the company's offering, but the GV80 is said to feature leather seats, a curved 22-inch infotainment display, ash wood trim, and touch-captive controls, similar to its concept model. Also, the steering wheel looks totally different when compared to the current Genesis models on sale. The loyal fan base also expects features like a Gear Selector, as in the offerings of Jaguar and Land Rover models as well as on Ford’s.
Recently, the Genesis GV80 SUV spotted somewhere in the Middle East with the test car sporting a Dubai license plate. The spotted vehicle had no canvas on it and was present with just a sticker as camouflage. However, more details are set to be premiered on Genesis’s upcoming global launch, programmed to take place later in 2020.
