Ferrari SF90 Stradale launched in the Middle East
Unveiled at Casa Ferrari UAE, the new SF90 Stradale is now available in the Middle East at a starting price of AED 1.9 million. The launch took place just ahead of the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix 2019. This is the brand’s first series-production plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
The car’s name is a reference to the foundation of Scuderia Ferrari ninety years back which also indicates at the strong link the company always had between its track and road-focused cars. Not just this, the SF90 Stradale is an ideal example of how the company transits knowledge and skills from competition to production cars.
The SF90 Stradale comes with a weight-to-power ratio of 1.57 kg/cv and 390 kg of downforce at 250 kmph. It is capable of pumping out a max power of 1000 PS, out of which 780 PS is produced by a 90-degree V8 turbo engine while the rest 220 PS by the three electric motors.
While one motor (known as the Motor Generator Unit, Kinetic because it’s been derived from the Formula 1 application) out of three is positioned between the engine and the new 8-speed DCT on the rear axle, the other two can be found on the front axle. As a driver, you do not need to understand the logic applied in the backdrop, you need to simply select one of the four power unit modes to take advantage. The control logic manages power delivery of V8, electric motors and batteries on its own.
The SF90 Stradale is also the first 4WD model from Ferrari that’s capable of delivering a peak torque output of 800 Nm. The car can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.5 seconds and from 0 to 200 kmph in 6.7 seconds. The fully-electric front axle on the Stradale, known as RAC-e electronic cornering set-up regulator, is used to provide much-needed propulsion in an electric drive while also controlling the torque delivered to the wheels. For weight management, the chassis and bodyshell of the car are completely new built using carbon fibre and multi-material technology.
To get your hands on the new Ferrari SF90 Stradale, you can visit any of the Al Tayer Motors showrooms in the Middle East, prices for the same starts at AED 1.9 million.
