Every Porsche Taycan ever made is now subject to recall

ABU DHABI: Porsche has issued a recall worldwide for all its Taycan models produced since its launch in 2020. This announcement was made due to a braking issue that has impacted a few of the vehicles. 

Despite the recall, Porsche has said that the Taycan can be operated without any safety concerns. While the carmaker has not disclosed the exact number of affected vehicles, it has acknowledged that to date it has sold over 150,000 units globally. This decision underscores the commitment of Porsche to maintaining the highest standards of customer satisfaction and safety across its lineup.

In some Taycan models, Porsche has detected a front brake hose issue, where cracks may lead to reduced braking effectiveness and brake fluid leaks. Cars with warning lights need to be taken to a dealership. The owners of Taycan must note that the red light indicates you should stop driving the vehicle and contact Porsche immediately. Vehicles without warning lights can be driven safely.

Kevin Giek Taycan project manager stated the hoses have been redesigned to prevent future failures with improved kinematics, length, and braking points ensuring enhanced safety.

At Porsche dealerships, the automaker will schedule a two-hour, free replacement of affected brake hoses. This will not impact warranties. This issue has been experienced by less than 1% of global Taycan models triggering a yellow warning message. Despite rigorous post-facelift and pre-launch testing totaling 5 million miles without incidents, Porsche decided to opt for a redesigned hose to address potential problems worldwide.
