Dubai Taxi includes Toyota Hilux in its fleet
ABU DHABI: Aimed at families with the outdoors in mind, Dubai Taxi has bought 2 Hilux pickup trucks to cater to these customers. It is currently a pilot project, and more vehicles will be added based on market demand.
These Hilux taxis are fitted with a TRD kit, adding a bit of a sporty look. According to the Road and Transport Authority (RTA), Hatta Taxi services to and from Dubai have been available since September of last year. These Taxis could carry 4 people and their luggage. Coming to the Hilux Dubai Taxi, it will not just be for commuting to the city. Residents of Hatta can use the Hilux Taxi service within the city itself or even take it to Dubai. They also get a 50% discount at the end of their trip.
This will not be the first Hatta Taxi service the RTA is operating. There are already 2 routes operating for some years, one starting from Sabkha bus station and the other from Al Aweer Fruit and Vegetable market. These have been operational for several years now. Up to 7 passengers can share a ride with the previously mentioned areas being the originating point. Cost for the ride-sharing is AED 25 per person. If sharing is not your thing, then you have the option to book an individual taxi, via the Hatta dispatch centre.
It will be interesting to see how popular these Hilux taxis will be and if they will provide something of value to the customers.
