Chevrolet unveils the 2019 Captiva SUV
ABU DHABI: Chevrolet has unveiled the new generation Captiva SUV at the ongoing International Motor Show in Bogota, Columbia. The launch was quite surprising as the company had earlier announced to discontinue the model in order to focus on the new model, Equinox.
The new Chevrolet Captiva is almost similar to the previous model. With a height of 1,760 mm and length of 4,655 mm, it is slightly taller, yet smaller than the previous model. In terms of width, the Captiva measures 1,835 mm.
The next-gen Captiva SUV derives its power from a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, which is capable of pumping out a maximum of 147 horsepower. A 6-speed automatic gearbox is also available under the hood to handle the transmission duties.
The brand-new Chevrolet Captiva resembles the Baojun 530 crossover sold in China. The crossover is made by the GM along with the SAIC. The new SUV comes with a new emblem and a radiator grille. The prominent Chevrolet bow-tie is placed perfectly at the centre of the vehicle. Also, it features a massive bumper along with C-shaped fog lamps.
The brand-new Chevrolet Captiva rides on the 18-inch alloy wheels. However, the vehicle does not get the optional two-tone exterior.
We have not heard much about the safety equipment as well as the other features. However, the previous Captiva featured anti-lock braking system with electronic brake assist. Also, dual airbags were offered as standard. The previous model also got GPS Navigation, steering mounted air-con blower controls and a touchscreen in-car entertainment system.
The next-gen Captiva SUV will come soon to the global markets. Columbia is expected to get the model in 2019 followed by other markets, regarding which, no timeline has been provided by Chevrolet yet.
