Chevrolet Corvette C8.R race car revealed

A surprise unveiling of Chevy Corvette C8.R happened at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Earlier, it was known that the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible will be unveiled at the event and C8.R would come at the end of the year or the start of next year.

Though the car was unveiled, GM has not disclosed anything about it. What we can observe from the eyes are the only things known till now. The vehicle has got a large GT wing, a giant rear diffuser, and new aero trickery up-front around the wheel arches. It appears wider in the back and the front.

C8.R No. 4 car has taken inspiration from the iconic Corvette concepts like 1973 Chevrolet Corvette and 1959 Corvette Stingray Racer. As it comes with a new silver livery contrasting with yellow accents. While C8.R No. 3 having signature Corvette Racing yellow livery will be running along with it.

Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. vice president of Performance and Motorsports quoted, “The C8.R is much more than just a race-tuned version of the 2020 Corvette Stingray. It’s a culmination of many years of testing and development between GM Design, Propulsion, Engineering, and the Corvette Racing team.”

The Corvette Racing team is the most successful sports car team in North America with the achievement of 107 race victories since 1999. The team has scored 13 team championships, 12 driver titles, and 12 manufacturer titles in the last twenty years. To date, the team has marked the biggest success in 2015.

Corvette C8.R will carry the Corvette Racing team through the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, which commences with the Rolex 24 at Daytona in late January.
