Chery Tiggo 9 receives a makeover in China; Will it come to the UAE?

ABU DHABI: For the 2025 model year, the Chery Tiggo 9 has received a fresh update, debuting in China with refreshed aesthetics. A new plug-in hybrid variant, the Tiggo 9 C-DM, has also been introduced. These enhancements expand Chery's electrified vehicle lineup and bolster its status as a flagship SUV.

The refreshed Chery Tiggo 9 retains its signature look but now sports a more muscular appearance, featuring a larger waterfall-style grille. Design highlights include stylish wheels, hidden door handles, aggressive bumpers, a floating roof, striking headlights, and a one-piece tail light cluster. For the Tiggo 9 C-DM, two new green shades have been introduced.

The Chery Tiggo 9’s cabin maintains the previous model’s sophisticated layout. It comes with a 24.6-inch curved display combining a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Also part of the kit is a 256-colour ambient lighting system, Nappa leather upholstery, eight-speaker Sony sound system, dual-zone climate control, and advanced driver assistance systems.

The new Chery Tiggo 9 is equipped with a 2.0-litre inline-four petrol turbocharged engine that generates around 261 PS and 400 Nm of torque. Front-wheel-drive models are paired with a 7-speed DCT, while the all-wheel-drive variant features an Aisin-sourced 8-speed automatic. The FWD version takes 7.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph, while the AWD model takes 8.5 seconds.

The Tiggo 9 C-DM is equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that produces around 156 PS and 220 Nm. It also comes with a front electric motor that delivers around 224 PS and 390 Nm. This plug-in hybrid offers 381 PS total output and 610 Nm and takes 8.8 seconds to achieve 0-100 kmph. It has a 19.43 kWh lithium battery that provides a 106 km (WLTC 82 km) CLTC electric range.

The battery can be charged with up to 41 kW DC input and takes 25 minutes to reach 30-80%, while AC charging can be achieved in 3.5 hours. The SUV comes with a V2L system that provides 6.6 kW for powering devices. It also includes a 3DHT transmission along with six driving modes. 

The 2025 Chery Tiggo 9 is priced in China from CNY 152,900 (approx AED 80,019) to CNY 203,900 (approx 106,710).

Will the Chery Tiggo 9 come to the UAE?

It is anticipated that the new Chery Tiggo 9 will make its way to the UAE in the fourth quarter of 2024.
