Chery Hunting Wild Concept revealed with solid-state battery - A new era for EVs?

ABU DHABI: While many of the leading Western automakers have pushed back their plan to come up with concept cars, Chinese brands such as Chery continue to innovate. Chery recently revealed a new concept known as the Hunting Wild. It blends minivan and wagon design and previews the Fulwin series' next chapter, featuring solid-state next-gen battery technology.

Powered by solid-state batteries, Chery's Hunting Wild electric wagon takes 3 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h. It offers up to 1500 km of range and reaches a top speed of 260 km/h. Solid-state batteries promise faster charging, higher energy density, and potential fifteen-minute recharge times.

Chery's Hunting Wild concept boasts an 800-volt platform, air suspension, four-wheel steering, Level Three autonomous driving, and a colour-changing skylight. It utilizes a 30,000rpm electric motor which hints at potential two-wheel drive, though there are no specific details about the performance.

The exterior may preview the new design direction of the brand, featuring a streamlined silhouette, sleek lines, distinctive LED taillights, LED daytime running lights, and hidden headlights.

While interior images have not been revealed by Chery yet, the spec list hints at a tech-rich cabin. The main features include AI-powered voice controls, a 15.6-inch infotainment display, rear seats that can be reclined with leg rests, and a 23-speaker sound system. A colour-changing dome skylight further enhances the panoramic roof.

The chip manages zoned audio, exterior cameras, AI support, 5G connectivity, and safety systems such as drowsiness detection. Chery's model also comes with an AI voice assistant, a 23-speaker system, tilt-adjust rear seats, and a fold-flat passenger seat.

The market launch of the Chery Hunting Wild concept is anticipated to be no earlier than 2026. After its launch, it will compete with the Neta S Wagon, Zeekr 001, and Nio ET5T.
