Charity in mind, Lexus to auction one-off LC500 Convertible

Luxury car division of leading Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota, is all set to auction the one-off LC500 coupe convertible. The car was slated for mass production and was only displayed at major international auto show events. There will be no further versions of the LC500 convertible, at least not one based on the company’s Structural Blue Inspiration Series.

The LC500 coupe, when it was first revealed, became a toast of automobile enthusiasts. It became a much sought-after vehicle, courtesy its performance-oriented powertrain and concept sensibilities.

The LC500, being the first in the company’s coupe convertible series which has the unique vehicle identification number 100001. That aside, the vehicle has the Structural Blue color scheme, semi-aniline leather interior, and custom blue brake calipers. The paint scheme was designed by Lexus, which the company claims, is the deepest blue shade available on any vehicle in the market. 

Lexus, to add more exclusivity to the LC500, has added a photo portfolio of the car’s product run. Also available will be a driving lesson from legendary American race car driver Scott Pruett. 

Lexus has revealed that the car will hit the auction block at around 4.30pm Mountain Standard Time (GMT-7) on 17 January. Those interested to bid for the one-off car can register on Barrett-Jackson’s official website.

Besides in-person placing of bids, Lexus has also opened the phone and online bidding options. Bidders can also bid through an absentee option. The entire auction process can be viewed live through a Livestream feed on the Barrett-Jackson website. The proceeds from the auction will go to Bob Woodruff Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of America.   

Lexus, meanwhile, is all set to introduce 2021 LC500 Convertible which will go on sale later this year. Production will be limited to 100 units only.
