BMW Vision Neue Klasse X SUV scheduled for debut on March 21

ABU DHABI: The Vision Neue Klasse X, a new concept will be previewed at the 2024 BMW Group Annual Press Conference offering an insight into the electric future of the brand. On its social media handle, the German automaker released a teaser image revealing a minimalist cabin design similar to last year's Vision Neue Klasse sedan.

The Vision Neue Klasse X concept SUV will succeed the current iX3 and is expected to be a five-seater model. In its top variant, it is expected to offer nearly 600hp. It will join a lineup including the next-generation i3 sedan that was showcased initially at the Munich Motor Show as the Neue Klasse concept.

The initial teaser showcases the dashboard of the Vision Neue Klasse X concept SUV. The cabin is equipped with a distinct center console and BMW Panoramic Vision head-up display. It boasts a redesigned steering wheel, ultra-thin climate vents, and an orange-white colour scheme.

The concept SUV will depart from the recent CLAR underpinnings and will utilize the Neue Klasse platform. It will mirror the sedan that was revealed at the September 2023 IAA Mobility show.

The Neue Klasse architecture will be equipped with a sixth-generation lithium-ion battery with liquid cooling and cylindrical cells. With an 800V electric architecture, it will offer 30% faster charging. For the platform, new electric motors have been designed that lead to an increase in efficiency by up to 25%.

The production of the Porsche Macan Electric and Audi Q6 E-tron rival will begin in Debrecen, Hungary in 2025. BMW's plants in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Germany, and Munich are also expected to begin the production of Neue Klasse models from 2026 and 2027.
