BMW teases a stylish four-door - Is it the 8 Series Gran Coupe?
ABU DHABI: The mystery continues and so, the fun! We love when automakers release teaser images and videos of their upcoming creations. It revives the trill and gets auto junkies on toss guessing what it could be - from the segment to series to even guessing if it's a next-gen or an utterly new model. Well, triggering the auto geek within us this time it's the high-end car brand, BMW.
Early this morning, BMW Group posted a Twitter feed showing a blueish-greenish car with a coupe-like silhouette. What the brand made clear was that the car would be showcased at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show, that’s it. No clue, whatsoever.
Putting our mind to work and observing the image carefully, here are a few outlines -
First, it'll be a four-door, clear from the seam seen towards the end of C-pillar.
Second, following the previous info, the car indicates to be a four-door Gran Coupe, a change from the standard two-door Coupe in the 8 Series
Third, the car shows a visually longer greenhouse that compared to the 8 Series Concept.
Fourth, due to its flowing roofline, the car seems to have a crunched headroom for rear seated passengers.
Fifth, the teaser showcases a long hood and raked windscreen.
Reading the features mentioned above the first thought that comes to our mind was that of a saloon version of the 8 Series Concept. As for the other possibilities, it could a concept previewing of M8, but for that, the teaser image does not seem to be masculine enough. Alos, it could be the rumoured M8 convertible, but necessary cuts on the roofline are a miss. Thus, the teaser being that of a four-door Gran Coupe holds the highest probability.
In only a week time all the speculations will come to rest when we'll get to see this beauty out in the open at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show.
