BMW M5 Competition is finally here, churns out 634 PS
ABU DHABI: The latest BMW M5 Competition hits the market with drooling looks and even better performance. The model is yet to arrive in the UAE. As of now, there are plenty of images of the latest high-performance sedan for you, as an automotive enthusiast to drool over.
The new M5 Competition brings together remarkable performance and exclusive driving pleasure in the most tranquil manner, which is exactly what BMW M models have been renowned for over the years. As the automaker says, it delivers a race-inspired driving experience.
The sedan comes with enhanced capabilities than seen on the standard M5. It underpins a powerful 4.4-litre V8 twin-turbo petrol engine that produces a blistering peak power of 634 PS at 6,000rpm and a healthy torque of 750 Nm between 1,800-5,800 rpm while being mated to an 8-speed M-Steptronic transmission system. The figures keep it on par with the supercar Ferrari 458 Speciale which makes it even more special.
Matching the figures of a two-seater supercar, the BMW M5 Competition is claimed to hit the 100 kmph mark from nought in just 3.3 seconds while the 200 kmph mark is reached in 10.8 seconds. The M xDrive AWD system gets a place on the new M5 Competition. Additionally, there are three driving modes for the driver to switch between, including efficient, sporty and ultra-dynamic.
Some of the standard features on the M5 Competition include a model-dependent M Sports exhaust system with black chrome tailpipes, a particulate filter that aids in keeping the emissions to the minimum and 20-inch M lightweight forged alloys that are finished in dual-colour. The new M xDrive switchable traction system allows the M5 to drift through the corners with least stress.
Inside, the driver will be treated with an exclusive ‘M Competition’ graphic on the instrument cluster whenever the car is turned on. Additionally, there are floor mats with ‘M5’ logo and unique piping, a big centrally-situated touchscreen display and a chunky electronic gear lever.
While the automotive experts and journalists were busy experiencing the M5 Competition first hand at the Ascari Race Resort in Spain, the German automaker released around 150 photos of the upcoming performance sedan for others to enjoy.
