BMW M2 CS Racing unveiled with latest Motorsport Technology
BMW M2 CS Racing is officially out after not much time when the German automaker introduced the range-topping M2 CS, which is also the donor car for the Racing version. However, electronics of the new BMW M2 CS Racing have been taken from the M4 GT4. The latest member of the brand’s line-up comes with the latest BMW Motorsport technology and the car has been programmed and tuned in a way that the performance levels can be retrieved based on the defined Balance of Performance.
The design will make you fall for it. It gets the trademark BMW kidney front grille, front splitters, carbon-fibre roof, tow rings at the front and back, quick-release locks for the bonnet and boot, air jack system, an optional lighting system for night races, electronically-adjustable motorsport rear wing and optimised motorsport wire harness for reduced weight. You’d also find an external charging port that is used to charge the battery.
Other elements of the car include especially-designed drive shafts, a Drexler mechanical limited-slip differential with distinctive cooling feature and pre-load, upgraded engine mountings and motorsport-limited exhaust system with catalytic converters. Moreover, the wheel bearing for rear axle has been modified and the BMW M2 CS Racing gets special driving aids like DSC and ABS for better handling and safety.
The BMW M2 CS Racing also gets ZF Sachs motorsport dampers, spring deflection sensors, adjustable anti-roll bars (at the front and back) and upgraded suspension unit. Its 18-inch black-matte alloys are wrapped with Michelin tyres specially designed for racing. For braking, the company has equipped it with six-pot calipers at the front and four-pot calipers at the back.
A bigger 84-litre fuel tank has been included in the car, while even bigger 120-litre fuel tank will be a part of this racing beauty by the end of the next year. The car can be fueled from either side.
The BMW M2 CS Racing is powered by the same 3.0-litre six-cylinder S55 turbocharged engine that powers the M2 CS and M2 Competition, but tuned to churn out a max power between 284 PS and 370 PS as per Permit B classifications. The M2 CS, on the other hand, is capable of producing a max power of 456 PS. The max torque produced is 550 Nm which is transferred to the rear wheels via a 7-speed DCT with special motorsport software. BMW is said to be working on the upgraded version that will put out close to 456 PS of power.
Inside the cabin, the BMW M2 CS Racing gets a removable and column-adjustable BMW Motorsport steering, an enlarged and electrically-operated rear-view mirror, a coloured display for vehicle data and adjustable Sabelt Taurus XL seats accentuated with car name’s embroidery. You’d also find a six-point safety harness from Schroth. Other optional elements include a passenger bucket seat, a weight box, drinking facility for the driver and GT race bucket seats from Recaro.
The BMW M2 CS Racing is priced at 95,000 Euros (AED 385,223 approx). It will be made available from mid-2020.
This car is eligible to race at the touring car race series TC America and The VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring.
