BMW launches M3 CS version, bid adieu to the standard version
ABU DHABI: Recent times have seen many companies bidding goodbye to some popular models in their line up only because they would become obsolete under the new scenario. Having said that, the latest car to witness farewell is a highly anticipated sedan from BMW.
Not disappointing its loyal customers base and prospective buyers, BMW has now brought the final run of the standard M3 in the form of the M3 CS (Club Sport). The company has even revealed a host of images of this new M3.
There aren’t a lot of changes on the exterior, and most of the revisions in this limited-edition BMW M3 CS are restricted to the mechanism. The new model is powered by a tweaked twin-turbo, 3.0-litre, six-cylinder engine. This motor is enough to generate 10 PS more power than the standard performance pack of M3. The final power output stands at 454 PS along with a peak torque of 600 Nm. The power is sent down to the wheels via a dual-clutch, 7-speed transmission gearbox.
This potentially powerful engine can push the car to an electronically-limited top speed of 280 kmph. Plus, the company even claims that the new BMW M3 CS can hit an acceleration of 0-100 kmph in just 3.9 seconds.
Aesthetically, the BMW M3 CS employs a good chunk of carbon fibre inserts all across, making it around 50 kilograms lighter than the standard M3.
The standard BMW M3 will see the end of its production-cycle by the end of June. However, the company will continue to produce the M4 and sold it for some time now. The new M4 will be installed with a particulate filter making it adherent to the new emission rule.
BMW will be producing only 1,200 units of the all-new M3 CS, out of which 500 are booked for the United States. The rest 700 units are available for the remaining six continents.
