Aston Martin DBX crossover’s production phase to be held at St. Athan in Wales
ABU DHABI: It's just a matter of time that the popular British Auto giant, Aston Martin has started the production of its first ever crossover. And yes, the production is held at its new facility situated at St. Athan in Wales. It was started after the car manufacturer came up with a teaser of its all-new DBX, three months ago.
The upcoming DBX crossover outfit is likely to be taken from the Aston Martin Vantage. The first ever crossover of Aston Martin is equipped with a twin-turbo V8 mill, which is similar to that of the Vantage. If that is the case, then the engine will deliver a more than 500 PS of power and 600 Nm of torque. The manufacturer has informed that the full production of the crossover will begin by 2020.
The new facility is the second plant in the United Kingdom and has an area of around 36.42-hectare. It is going to be the one and only sole production site of the all-new DBX. Also, the crossover’s ultra-luxury electric vehicles (EVs) that will arrive in the future under the Lagonda brand will be built from this plant only.
Aston Martin Lagonda’s Group CEO and president, Dr. Andy Palmer said, “This is an exciting time for Aston Martin Lagonda. Our second luxury manufacturing facility is now producing cars and is ready to go into full production in the first half of 2020. Our facilities and manufacturing teams, led by VP and Chief Manufacturing Operations Officer Keith Stanton have done an outstanding job in getting the factory ready almost a year before full production starts, on time and on budget.”
For the opening of the plan, around 200 new jobs have been created so far and it is likely to come with 550 more. While, after completing all the further investments, the plant has the potential to provide 3,000 jobs. These jobs will be created to maintain the local business.
