Aston Martin, Airbus revealed ACH130 Aston Martin Edition Helicopter
Luxury sports car brand Aston Martin and leading aircraft manufacturer Airbus have finally revealed the ACH130 Aston Martin Edition helicopter. The product was first teased last month when the companies stated that the chopper would be mostly used for emergency medical services and sightseeing purposes. The exterior lines of the seven-seat or six-seat helicopter remain unchanged after the launch.
Aston Martin vice-president Marek Reichman said that while the company has its own set of automotive design elements, they are now applying the principles to other areas, like motorcycles, architecture and helicopters.
The British car manufacturer’s hand came in to compose the four exterior color combinations of the new ACH130, while the interior is embellished with typical Aston Martin design aesthetics.
Exterior color options of the ACH130 Aston Martin Edition helicopter include Ultramarine Black, Xenon Grey, and Sterling Silver. There’s also a fourth option called Arizona. The cabin color options include Pure Black, Cormorant, Oxford Tan, and Ivory. The rest of the interior is made up with Pure Black ultra-suede and matching leather. The Aston Martin logo is embossed on the leather headrests to further distinguish the Special Edition from the standard ACH130.
Immediately behind the chopper’s front seats are the brogue detailing. It runs down the center of the seat, similar to that of the Aston Martin DB11. The new ACH130 has leather-trimmed doors that offer a more comfortable surface to the helicopter’s passengers. The interior of the ACH130 uses materials from Aston Martin’s automotive palette and has a number of similarities to sports cars manufactured by the Gaydon-headquartered company.
The ACH130 Aston Martin Edition is open for bookings and deliveries are expected to begin later in the quarter. Airbus and Aston Martin, however, have not yet disclosed the price of the chopper. The ACH130 standard version price starts at $3.30 million without the frills, which makes the helicopter the cheapest among all products launched by Airbus in collaboration with automobile manufacturers. The Mercedes-Benz ACH145, a joint venture between Airbus and the German luxury carmaker, is priced around $8.5 million. The ACH160 helicopter, developed by Airbus and Peugeot, commands a price of around $18 million.
