2024 Aston Martin Vantage takes on role of F1’s Official Safety Car

ABU DHABI: For the 2024 Formula 1 season, Aston Martin has revealed its latest Safety Car, showcasing the improved Vantage sports car. With its advanced features and sleek design, this British coupe will lead the 20-car F1 grid. 

The new Aston Martin will make its grand debut at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. It may have undergone some changes from the standard road-going model for enhanced performance and safety. 

A twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine powers the new safety car. In comparison to its predecessor, the new safety car’s power has increased by 30%. With 590 lb-ft of torque and 656 horsepower, it takes 3.4 seconds to accelerate from 0-60 mph and achieves a 202 mph top speed, addressing its predecessors' criticisms of being sluggish.

Aston Martin has enhanced the aerodynamics of the Safety Car with a revised underfloor, a prominent front splitter, and a tuned Gurney wing. Inside, it has a new center console to manage display race data and FIA systems. Despite these updates, the Safety Car retains its signature luxury.

Bernd Maylander, FIA Safety Car Driver praised the speed and performance of Vantage, emphasizing its potential to respond safely and swiftly on the track.

The Aston Martin Vantage Safety Car is painted in Racing Green color like the Team cars of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One®. It will join the DBX 707 Medical Car, highlighting the dedication of the brand to Formula 1 and motorsport. 2024 will be the fourth year of Aston Martin as an F1 Safety Car supplier.
