2020 Mercedes-AMG A45 S and CLA45 S come packing 416 hp

ABU DHABI: How much power do you expect from a hatchback? Around 150 to 200 hp is more than what would be needed in most of the cases, right? However, there are some fanatics who crave for a sports car-like thrill and experience from a hatchback and even a compact coupe. For the same lot of the population, Mercedes-Benz has brought out the 2020 Mercedes-AMG A45 S and CLA45 S.

Courtesy of the most powerful four-cylinder engine ever, the 2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S and the A 45 S receive 416 hp of maximum power and a peak torque of 500 Nm. Interestingly enough, it is the same 2.0-litre motor that powers the non-S variants as well. The same powerhouse on the smaller and non-S A 45 and CLA 45 models churns out 382 hp of maximum power output and 480 Nm of peak torque.

With the much powerful engine, the A 45 S and CLA 45 S can do a 0-100 kmph run in a mere 3.9 seconds and 4.0 seconds, respectively. The non-S A 45 and CLA 45 models, on the other hand, can achieve the same feat 4 seconds and 4.1 seconds, respectively. Both the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and the 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system are standard on all of the 2020 Mercedes-AMG A45 S and CLA45 S trims.

Bringing in more fun and an adrenaline boost is the Drift mode that is standard on the A 45 S and CLA 45 S models. The same Drift mode is also available on the non-S variants as an optional feature. Much more sporty & intimidating looks and a pair of 19-inch wheels instead of the 18-inch units on the non-S models make the 2020 Mercedes-AMG A45 S and CLA45 S stand apart from the rest. The end of the year 2019 should see Mercedes-Benz offering the more powerful & menacing hatchback and coupe models in the UAE and GCC.
