2019 BMW X7 to be the largest SUV yet
ABU DHABI: People hoping for a large BMW SUV will now get their wish granted. The new X7, which would be a part of the 7 Series range, will serve as the new flagship SUV from the company’s gallery.
If you are wondering how big the new BMW X7 actually is, you would like to know that it is the largest SUV the company has ever built. On paper, it measures 5.1 metres in length, two metres in width and is 1.8 metres tall. Plus, it also weighs around 2,390 kilograms. These dimensions put it to direct competition with the Mercedes-Benz GLS.
Since the car is really big, it also tends to have the biggest kidney grille for any BMW cars to date. The big grille is enticed by the sleek and slim headlamps. At the sides, there are slight defining lines as the car does not need a lot of them to look bold. The tall stature enables big windows to complement the dimension. Get back to the rear and you will find the signature L-shaped sleek LED tail lights added.
The cabin looks very awesome as the angles and designs take things to the next level. The side air-conditioning vents are L-shaped. The dashboard looks very futuristic, especially with the fully digital instrumentation with the latest unit of iDrive infotainment. The seats and inner door trims have leather wraps, and there are options for wooden as well as aluminium inserts every here and there. It is a 7-seater as standard. However, buyers can opt for Captain’s Chair for the second row, but upon doing so, the car will become a 6-seater.
As for the mechanics, BMW will be offering four different engine trims. The smallest engine would be a 3.0-litre unit making 265 PS of power and 620 Nm of torque. The next unit in the lineup would be the 40i making 340 PS and 450 Nm of power and torque respectively. The X7 50i would have a V8 (eight-cylinder) motor which will be capable of making 462 PS of power and 650 Nm of torque. The range-topper would be the M50 variant that would have four turbochargers mated to the engine. The total power output in this performance version would range around 400 PS of power and 760 Nm of torque.
