2018 Suzuki Swift - Features explained
Suzuki is a well-known auto brand serving the customers with reliable and affordable cars for decades. The Middle Eastern market also has benefited from Suzuki’s car, however, here they resisted claiming a substantial market position due to the heavy influence of German brands. As combat, Suzuki launched the next-generation variants of two of its best selling cars - the Swift and Dzire.
The all-new Dzire, heading from the compact sedan segment together with the hot hatch, the 2018 Swift was recently introduced by the brand in many countries, including the UAE. And like elsewhere, here too the auto critics and prospective buyers appreciated Suzuki’s new design language along with the additions made on the performance and feature division. Today our focus is on the revamped hatch, the all-new Suzuki Swift. So, follow along and know about the additions made.
Suzuki Swift Exterior Features -
- Suzuki has upped the design game when it comes to the all-new Swift. Thanks to which the hatch now looks somewhat like its European counterparts. Now included in the package is a new set of headlights. Although the overall silhouette is kept the same as before, the newly added LED DRL strip gives the car an attractive look
- Another element at the front that enhances Suzuki Swift’s appeal is the new wide front grill. This new hexagonal shaped grille proudly owns Swizuki’s logo at the centre. The entire set up with the honeycomb inserts, brand logo, black spray, and perfect fit is appealing. Also, it complements with the design of the front bumper
- Depicting the impression of a floating-roof design and giving the car an wrap around look is newly added blacked-out C-pillar. This element enhances the visual aesthetics of the 2018 Suzuki Swift. Though it isn’t the first time we have seen a car with this feature, for Suzuki, it's the first try
- Giving the rear its share of attention, Suzuki has revised the old halogen bulb arrangement. Similar to the headlamps, the taillights now feature a LED setup. The overall appearance and design of the taillight look striking when illuminated. Carrying Suzuki’s signature design, it’ll help to spot the car from a distance.
New Swift Interior Features -
- Suzuki has continued the all-black interior theme with the new Swift, and we are glad it did so. This theme is way better than the beige and other color schemes. It really brings out the sporty feel in the cabin and gives the impression of power and energy.
- It looks like the 2018 Swift is all about sporty feel. The designers have now included a flat-bottomed steering wheel, which we must say looks cool. Not only does it feels great but also adds up to driving confidence. The steering wheel also comes with a great finish and a few mounted controls.
- Moving a step backwards is the new and stylish meter cluster. It now features two full-size circular dials with satin chrome finish adding to its appeal. Also, the red and white lighting pops and bring out the sportiness. The digits too are big and clearly visible.
- This entire setup goes well with the all-black cabin theme. Sitting in the middle of the two dials is a 3.5-inch LCD TFT Multi-Information Display. Its full-color display shows various information like average fuel consumption, remaining drivable range, average speed, etc., clearly.
- Taking care of the entertainment need is a Bluetooth compatible audio system. This setup comes equipped with AM/FM and CD player, it uses a high contrast LCD for clear visibility. Suzuki has provided two option for connectivity, that is either via wired USB connection or through Bluetooth.
2018 Swift Performance Sheet
- Time to talk discuss new Swift specifications. A 1.2-litre petrol engine powers the new Suzuki Hatch. This mill offers the best of both worlds - high output and good mileage. As for the power and torque figures, the car generates a maximum power of 83 PS at 6000 rpm along with a peak torque of 113 Nm at 4200 rpm.
- While the base model comes in 5-speed manual transmission option, the range-topping variant gets CVT.
- Use of ultra-high-tensile steel helps achieve rigidity and lightness. Both of which play an essential part in providing excellent fuel economy and driving performance.
- The 2018 Swift underpins the next-generation ‘HEARTECT’ platform that along with many performance enhancements provide for a wider turning angle. The new Swift displays a turning radius of only 4.8 meters.
Next-gen Suzuki Swift Safety Features -
- What we liked most about the new Swift is that all its variants come with dual front airbags. However, it would have been better to get a few more airbags in higher-trim.
- The 2018 model is integrated with Anti-lock Braking system with Electronic Braking-force Distribution supporting and optimizing braking force.
- Also, included in the package is an injury mitigation body that takes care of pedestrian safety. Impact-absorbing bonnet, front bumper, and wiper system are designed to mitigate pedestrian injury in the event of a collision.
Overall, Suzuki has done a great job with the all-new Swift. All the areas, be it the exterior, interior, engine, or safety are impressive and meet the modern standards of the time. The new Swift color scheme includes eight single and four two-tone shades. The 2018 Suzuki Swift price starts at AED 44,900 for the base model and goes all the way up to AED 51,500 for the range-topping GLX variant.
