2018 Infiniti Q30 launched in the UAE
ABU DHABI: April seems to be favouring the UAE auto industry quite well. It all started with the debut of the all-new Hyundai Accent, followed by the entry of rugged 2018 Ford Expedition, and now we hear that the luxury auto brand Genesis launched G70 in the country. Amidst, all the contemporary body styles appearing in the market, the one to grab maximum buyers attention is the crossover segment. Taking advantage of the scenario, Nissan luxury arm, Infiniti launched the 2018 Q30 in the UAE.
The all-new 2018 Q30 is a compact utility vehicle and shall not be mistaken with its earlier launched sibling, the Q30 hatchback. In the UAE market, the new Infiniti Q30 will compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q2, and MINI Countryman. And, its price also tallies with the mentioned German counterparts. The 2018 Q30 holds a starting price tag of AED 157,000.
The Japanese automaker new cross underpins the same platform over which its hatch sibling rests. In a way, one can say that the all-new 2018 Q30 is a ‘hatch in heels’ for its only 3 cm taller than its younger sibling. Showcased at the La Ville Hotel, Dubai City Walk, the Q30 crossover looked nearly identical to its hatch kind.
As for the mechanical bits, the Q30 crossover is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo engine that produces a maximum power of 211 PS along with a peak torque of 350 Nm. The new Infiniti crossover features a smart all-wheel-drive system that is powered by a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The said transmission unit comes with a default setting of sending power to the front wheels, which in turn saves fuel. It’s only when the system senses uneven surface or if the front wheels lose traction the force is transmitted to rear wheels.
Available in nine exterior hues, the all-new Q30 does not offer much over its hatch counterpart. For the same length, width, booth space along with a few cosmetic changes, buyers will have to pay an additional price of AED 50,000 over the Q30 hatch.
